<p>Carol Dilley, in collaboration with the National College of Dance, will present a unique series of performances in the Lock-Up's Cells. Carol, a US based dancer, teacher&nbsp;and choreographer, is the Lock-Up's current Artist in Residence.&nbsp;This residency follows a 2008 residency Dilley undertook, where she met with and taught students of the Marie Walton Dance Academy&nbsp;and National College of Dance.</p>

<p class="UIIntentionalStory_Message"><span class="UIIntentionalStory_Names"> </span>Liz Ashburn continues her explorations of the dynamics of power with image and text with an exhibition responding to the continued violence and conflict in the Middle East.</p>
<p>In &ldquo;Explosive Forces: Fear and Destruction in Conflict&rdquo; Liz Ashburn continues her explorations of the dynamics of power with images form and text. Here she combines two seemingly disparate visual traditions to create a sense of quiet advocacy.&nbsp; Indeed this exhibition can be regarded as a homeopathic exercise - that by engaging with a little of the poison we can possibly negotiate a cure. - Craig Judd June 2010</p>

But don't go looking for historic fact here as <em>Brought to Light</em> revels in the slippery potency of <em>what may have been</em>. It revels in the folkloric rather than the particularities of official record.</p>

<p>This musical journey will start from The Loft Youth Venue, venture to the Renew Newcastle Headquarters and finish at The Lock-Up Cultural Centre, accompanied along the way by the Sudanese Equatoria Women's Choir.</p>
<p>The Lock-Up leg of the journey will feature Melbourne based singer and song-writer <strong><a href="http://www.myspace.com/ben.riddle">Ben Riddle</a></strong>. An ex-novocastrian, Ben will make a return to Newcastle with his soon to be released debut album in tow. Riddle will be touring the album internationally in late 2010.</p>
